TENS Current
TENS (Transcutaneous Electrical Nerve Stimulation) is an electrotherapy technique widely used for pain relief. It consists of a low-frequency pulsed current, with rectangular, bifasic, asymmetric or symmetric waveform, applied through electrodes placed on the skin.
It operates primarily via two mechanisms: the gate control theory of pain, which blocks transmission of pain signals, and endorphin release, providing natural analgesia. TENS is safe, non-invasive, and indicated for various types of pain.
